This entry explains what it means to become a Guardian of a Fugitive. Their energy is sealed in scrolls where the Master Shadow can't track it, but the seal only holds while their stories stay alive. A soul that's ignored will fade, and a fading seal leaks. Guardians keep them present: they share the name, talk about the spirit on a blog or podcast, and ask their audience how to help it move on. If you're here after reading the last journal entry, then you already know this isn't about collecting scrolls.
The Fugitives are still being hunted. Now that their energy is sealed, the Master Shadow can't track them, but that doesn't mean they're safe. I've learned something since I sealed them: the seal only holds while their stories stay alive. If they're ignored, they'll fade, like ink that no one reads, and a fading seal starts to leak. If they're passed around like souvenirs and left on a shelf, the Master Shadow will sense them again. Reading a scroll strengthens its seal. Silence and secrecy won't help them. They need someone to speak for them.
That's what it means to be a Guardian. I guess it's like taking the kids to early-morning soccer games or remembering to feed the dog when nobody else does. You give them attention, consistency, and presence, even when it's inconvenient. These souls need the same. You must care for them and keep their presence alive until the day comes when we, as a community, can figure out how to free them once and for all.
If you agree to take in one of the scrolls, you're taking on more than paper and ink. You're accepting the responsibility of helping a soul be remembered. Maybe that means keeping it close. Maybe it means sharing the name, the feeling, or the message that comes through. Maybe it means talking about it on your blog or podcast. Maybe it means letting your audience in, asking them what to do with the spirit, or how to help it move on.
If that brings more eyes to your work, that's fine. It's your voice. Your reach. Your call. What matters is that the soul is no longer silent.
There's no script. But there is a purpose.
Every time you speak their name, share their voice, or ask a question on their behalf, it weakens Candle Face's power. It pushes back.
This isn't paranormal entertainment. That alone eliminates most of the paranormal community. If you're ready, I'll send you a scroll. What you do after that is yours to carry. Not everyone is meant to be a Guardian. And that's fine. But if you are, then this is where your part of the story begins.
And just so you know: I've spent a lot of time, energy, and more money than I want to admit getting these Fugitives to safety. That part's not for show. It's just the cost of doing what needed to be done.
I've kept them protected up to this point. But I can't hold on to them forever.
